The college is committed to the success of every faculty member. This page provides all of the Tenure and Promotion information, guidelines, documents and guidance to support faculty in their goals. The overall criterion for Tenure and Promotion is:

Candidates should distinguish themselves as experts in their fields viewed by their appropriate peer groups as a leader in teaching, research and service to their peer communities.

Timeline

This is an approximate timeline for the review process; exact dates are specific to each year.

  1. July-August - Chair Solicits reference letters
  2. September - Faculty submit packets to department chairs
  3. October 24 - Chair's letter and the results of departmental vote must be given to faculty no later than this date
  4. November 3 - Packets (original and 12 copies duplexed) must be forwarded to the College on this day or 10 days after the candidate has received their copy of the chair's letter, whichever comes first.
  5. November 10 - December 5 - College T&P Committee meets
  6. December 8 - 12 - College T&P Committee gives their assessment to the Dean
  7. December 15 - Dean's Office gives candidates the results of the College T&P Committee's assessment
  8. January 5 - Dean's letters are given to candidates
