STEPUP

STEPUP 2008 will be the 14th year of this highly recognized program. STEPUP, which stands for Successful Transition through Enhanced Preparation for Undergraduate Programs, is a multi-faceted program designed to promote academic and personal success among minority freshman engineering students. The program combines faculty and peer mentoring with team-building, industry involvement, and academic enhancement classes in engineering foundation courses.

There are two components to the STEPUP program: a six-week summer residential program, and a non-residential program. In addition, participants in both the residential and non-residential programs continue to participate in study halls, tutoring, and personalized academic advising throughout their freshman year.

Multicultural students are invited to apply for the six-week summer residential program once they are admitted to the University of Florida as Engineering freshmen. Application does not guarantee admission to the program. Students are accepted based on criteria that indicate a strong potential for success in Engineering. Completed applications are due based on admission to UF.

Note: You need to be accepted into the STEPUP program.  Notification reagrding acceptance in the program will be by the end of May 2008.

STEPUP XIV students can register for any of the University's Preview Sessions during Summer A.

Residential Program Dates

June 27, 2008 - Aug. 8, 2008
The STEPUP XIV orientation weekend opening dinner begins at 7:00 pm on Friday, June 27, 2008.  Parents are required to attend the STEUP orientation weekend program (June 27th, 7:00 pm-June 28th, 2:00 pm).

At the end of the summer, we will have a STEPUP graduation luncheon in which we will invite parents and students.  This luncheon will be on August 8th, 2008

STEPUP XIV Application & Deadline

The deadline for your STEPUP application is April 4, 2008.
