Degree Programs

We have 11 departments, each with their own unique blend of research and personality. Since graduate admissions into our college are handled at the department level, choose which area you'd like to study, then talk with an advisor from that department about admissions information.

  • Agricultural & Biological Engineering

    ABE offers graduate degrees through both the College of Engineering and the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences. There are several degree options within each area.

  • Biomedical Engineering

    BME offers three graduate-level degrees: an M.S. in biomedical engineering, an M.E. in biomedical engineering and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering. It also works with the College of Medicine to provide a combined M.D./Ph.D. program.

  • Chemical Engineering

    CHE has four degree options for graduate students: an M.S. either with or without a thesis, an M.E. and a Ph.D.

  • Civil & Coastal Engineering

    CCE offers three graduate degree programs: general civil engineering, geosensing systems engineering and coastal and oceanographic engineering.

  • Computer & Information Science & Engineering

    CISE has three degree choices for graduate students: master of science, degree of engineer, and doctor of philosophy.

  • Electrical & Computer Engineering

    ECE offers both a masters program and a doctoral program for graduate students.

  • Environmental Engineering Sciences

    EES offers several degrees for graduate students. Specialization areas include air and waste management, environmental hydrology, systems ecology and ecological engineering, and water and wastewater science and engineering.

  • Industrial Systems Engineering

    ISE offers several degree options for graduate students, including a master's program, a Ph.D. program and more.

  • Materials Science Engineering

    MSE has several graduate degree offerings: a Ph.D., a master's (with thesis or without), a combined J.D./M.S. program, a combined M.D./Ph.D. program, and an off-site study program.

  • Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering

    MAE's graduate programs focus around three primary research areas: dynamics, systems and control; solid mechanics, design and manufacturing; and thermal science and fluid dynamics.

    NRE has several opportunities for graduate students. Research areas include nuclear engineering, medical physics and health physics.
