Water Sustainability in AI and Cloud Computing
Bio:
Dr. Nathan B. Wangusi is the Water Sustainability Program Manager for Amazon Web Services where he leads global water stewardship initiatives in the watersheds and communities where the firm operates data centers. He previously worked for Kleinfelder, the Balmoral Group and Carollo Engineers delivering engineering solutions including highway drainage design, complex hydraulic analysis and flood studies for water management districts, mines, and road agencies in the US. Prior to this, he was the Technical Lead for Water at IBM Research where he applied technology such as Blockchain and Cloud to solve challenges related to water risks to marginalized communities in Africa. He is a Board Member for Operation Water, an NGO delivering affordable water infrastructure projects in Africa. He has been the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Rotary Ambassadorial Fellowship, the Davis Projects for Peace Award, the National Research Foundation of South Africa Award and IBM’s Outstanding Technical Achievement Award. He earned his PhD, Masters and Bachelors from the University of Florida in Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
