Emily Gunger, Co-Chair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Emily Gunger is a Florida native, growing up in Fort Myers, FL. She is a PhD Candidate in the Nuclear Engineering Program. She loves all things neutrinos and her research combines neutrinos with nuclear nonproliferation efforts. Outside of school and research, she trains Brazilian jiu jitsu and volunteers at a local gym teaching children’s classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fahad Nabid, Co-Chair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fahad is a PhD student in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) department, where his research explores shock waves, particle interactions, and turbulence phenomena. Outside the lab, he loves traveling, trying new foods, and gardening. Fun fact: he studies some of the fastest events in physics, but he stills has to wait patiently for his tomatoes to grow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdulfatai Faro, Treasurer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Abdulfatai Faro is a passionate engineer originally from Lagos, Nigeria. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Chemical Engineering program, where his research focuses on semiconductor device design and carrier transport in wide-bandgap materials. Outside of academics, Abdul is a committed mentor and advocate for STEM education. He volunteers with organizations such as Django Girls, Rubies Technologies, and STEM4Girls, helping young learners develop skills in programming and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abigail Secu Aplin, Secretary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Abigail Secu Aplin is a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida. Her research focuses on the dura mater, where she investigates tissue engineering approaches and biomaterial design to improve graft performance and patient outcomes. In addition to her academic work, Abigail is passionate about fostering community and collaboration among graduate students. As Secretary of the Engineering Graduate Student Council, she is excited to support communication, organization, and engagement across the UF engineering community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marisa Morales, Event Coordinator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Marisa Morales is originally from Guatemala.  She is a Ph.D. student in Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Florida, focusing on enzyme design for food and agricultural applications. She is interested in interdisciplinary work, leadership, and supporting innovation in engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mariah Turner, Social Media Chair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mariah Turner is a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida originally from Chicago, IL. Her research focuses on tendon healing and pain, specifically exploring neuroimmune interactions. She currently serves as the Philanthropy Chair for the BME Graduate Student Council and as the Social Chair for the Engineering Graduate Student Council. Previously, she spent two years as the Professional Development Chair for BME GSC, where she organized workshops, mentorship programs, and student events. Outside of research and leadership, Mariah enjoys music, cooking new recipes, and cheering on Gator sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
