National Academy of Engineering Selects Professor Michele Manuel for Highest Professional Honor

The National Academy of Engineering has elected MSE professor and department chair Michele Manuel, Ph.D., to join the organization’s ranks, among the highest professional honors in engineering for those who have distinguished themselves in academia, private industry or government agencies.

UF Engineering Research Team Receives High Distinction for Delivering First of a Kind Department of Defense Solution

A team of UF researchers from the Florida Applied Research in Engineering (FLARE) program — the applied and classified research arm of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering — was presented the AFRL Corporate Award by the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Munitions Directorate.

UF Engineer Recognized for Distinguished Achievements in 2021 Class of AAAS Fellows

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the Science family of journals, has elected José C. Príncipe, Ph.D., as one of seven faculty and staff from the University of Florida, to the newest class of AAAS Fellows.

Gary Miller Honored as UF Distinguished Alumnus

Gary J. Miller, Ph.D., (BSME ’70/Ph.D. ’77) was honored at the fall 2021 commencement ceremony with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Distinguished alumnus awards are presented to an alumna or an alumnus of the university who has excelled in their chosen field and have performed outstanding service for the university. Dr. Miller is co-founder and Executive Vice President for Research and Development (Emeritus) of Exactech, Inc., Gainesville, Florida.  Exactech was incorporated in 1985 and develops, manufactures and distributes orthopaedic implants.

Dr. Walden “Wally” C. Rhines Tapped to Receive Global Semiconductor Alliance’s Highest Honor

Florida Inventors Hall of Fame 2021

UF Engineering Professor Emeritus and Alumna Recognized by Florida Inventors Hall of Fame

May 3, 2021

A University of Florida professor emeritus in materials science and engineering who developed an innovative computer chip manufacturing process, and an alumnus in electrical and computer engineering who is a leader at IBM in the application of artificial intelligence to aging issues, are among the 2021 inductees to the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame.
